Do I need condo board approval to install new shutters or blinds?

For interior blinds and shades, generally no. However, for shutters (which are visible from the exterior) or any work involving exterior-facing windows, you usually need board approval. We provide all the necessary technical specifications and documentation to help you submit your request to your condo board.

Which blinds are best for reducing city noise in a high-rise condo?

Honeycomb (Cellular) Shades, especially double or triple-cell models, are your best option. The air pockets in their design act as a layer of insulation to significantly dampen outside noise, such as traffic and sirens, making your living space quieter.

Can you install blinds on floor-to-ceiling windows?

Yes. We specialize in fitting manual and motorizing window coverings for the common floor-to-ceiling and large expanse windows found in modern GTA condos. We use robust hardware designed for large and heavy applications to ensure smooth, long-term operation.

Which is more energy efficient: Zebra Blinds or Cellular Shades?

Cellular Shades are the clear winner for energy efficiency. Their unique honeycomb structure traps air, creating an insulating barrier that significantly reduces heat transfer. Zebra blinds are stylish and great for light control, but they offer limited thermal insulation.

Can people see inside my house/condo at night when the lights are on and my Zebra Blinds are closed?

It depends on the fabric. Most Zebra blinds fabrics provide privacy. With Very sheer fabric of Zebra Blinds closed, people can usually see silhouettes or shadows when your lights are on inside at night. But it's rar. Check the fabric in Sunlight or your phone light to check how much light goes throug before ordering.

How long do motorized components (motors, batteries, remote) typically last?

We use high-quality, reputable motors designed for long-term reliability. The motor itself is expected to last 5 to 10 years under normal use. Our standard warranty covers the motor and electrical components for 3 years. Rechargeable batteries typically last 3–6 months per charge, depending on the size of the shade and frequency of use.

Are motorized blinds more durable than manual blinds?

Yes, generally. Motorization ensures smooth, consistent operation every time, eliminating the wear and tear caused by manual tugging, yanking, or uneven pulling of cords and wands. This consistent movement often extends the overall lifespan of the fabric and mechanism compared to manual systems.

Is the installation labour covered under your warranty?

Our product warranty covers defects in the material and workmanship of the blind itself. Installation labour is typically covered for the first 12 months after the initial install date. Beyond that, a nominal service fee may apply for site visits and labour, but replacement parts covered under the manufacturer's warranty will be free.

What are the best window coverings for South or West-facing windows to block heat?

For maximum heat blockage, we highly recommend blackout Cellular Shades and Roller Blinds. For roller blinds installed inside the window frames, side chanels can be installed to block maximum light.

Can blinds help protect my furniture and flooring from UV damage?

Absolutely. All our materials are treated to block harmful UV rays. Products like Solar Shades and Sunscreen Shades are specifically designed to filter out the majority of UV light, significantly slowing down the fading and deterioration of expensive carpets, upholstery, and hardwood floors.

Do you offer a Top-Down/Bottom-Up feature, and which products support it?

Yes, the Top-Down/Bottom-Up (TDBU) feature is available on our popular Cellular Shades also called Honeycomb Shades. This allows you to lower the top of the shade while keeping the bottom covered, maximizing natural light while maintaining privacy from street view—perfect for ground-floor GTA homes.

What are Valances or "Cornices" and do I need one?

Our Curvy and square Valances (often referred to as cornices or headrail coverings) are made of Aluminum and come in White, Beige, Light Grey, Brown and Black colors. Fabric can be inserted on curvy Vances. While not necessary for function, they provide a polished, finished look that hides the mechanism, seamlessly integrating the window covering into your interior design.
